With the prospect of a new Dark Angels codex for 6th edition, my hobby progress for my Dark Angels has actually slumped. Not because I'm not excited for the new edition or codex, because I really am. It's because I have no idea what the new Dark Angels codex will look like and what options will be available to my troops. Considering how limited the current codex is, I'd prefer to hold off on building what models are still in bits until the new codex comes out as there's a good chance it'll make all my current builds totally redundant.
Which brings me so my latest project. Warmachine. That's right, in the past few months I've been introduced to Warmachine down at my local game store and I've got to say, I'm loving it! Not only does it give me some hobby to do while the Dark Angels go into stasis (not permanently mind you) but I'm really enjoying the game itself. It's interesting to experience a totally different game system when you only knew one before. To be perfectly honest, I think Privateer Press has it in the bag when it comes to writing a simple, yet complex and easy to learn set of rules with very few loopholes. At least that's my impression after playing about 10 games or so.
As for the faction I've chosen, it took me a while to decide but I finally landed on Cygnar. I read through the lore on a lot of the factions and Cygnar's really grabbed me. I like that they're surrounded on all sides by enemies and their main goal is simply to protect their people. That, and they have knights. I'm just a sucker for knights and Cygnar get like five different types of knights! After discovering that, it wasn't very hard to decide to play them over something else.
Stay tuned for more.
